He has wanted to turn four for last 6 months (his best friend is 6 months older than him). I was not game for a party this year. However VK had different plans. A month or so before his birthday, he announced that he is having a party and he wanted a Spiderman cake. After much deliberation (not much really... with me refusing to have a party and Hubby wanting to honour his son’s requests), the men of the house won. VK was super duper excited and every morning he would wake up and first thing out of his mouth “Amma is it my birthday today?” And every night before going to sleep “how many more sleeps to go Amma for my birthday?’.
Finally the day arrived and the party was in the afternoon. However my dear son couldn’t wait… All morning, he just asked the same question” Are they here yet?” I was tired of answering him that at one point I started to ignore him. Eventually friends and families started to arrive and my boy was super duper happy.Considering he wanted Spiderman cake, we made the theme to Spiderman party. (He didn’t ask for it... I think we just went overboard) No! We didn’t dress like Spiderman. The decoration was around the theme and the plates, spoons, cups, balloons, streamers etc were in red and blue. We had about 35 adults and 14 kids. I had a chaat theme for food and hence made bhel puri, pani puri (puris store bought), ragda patties, samosas (frozen ones fried in oil), mango lassi and sweet lassi. I made Indian version of pizzas for the kids and it was a big hit. The food turned out to be a hit as it was a warm afternoon and it was good to gulp down lassi and pani puri water. I had planned a few games but ended up playing only passing the parcel. The kids were too eager to open the parcel that the game was over in less than 5 minutes. All in all it was a good party and VK had a nice time. That’s all mattered.
Next morning, VK tells me “Amma I am not 4 years old, I am four and half”. Now how will I account for the 6 months of precious time I lost?

Mine turned 4 last weekend too but we are obsessed with fireman sam. So, i got a fire engine cake with sam accompanying the fire engine.
The spiderman cake looks great.

He was super duper excited this year and he actually was inviting everyone he met.Nothing amazing comfy.. I just get caught in the excitement and start cooking and its too expensive to order outside.
@DC: THanks DC. How are you? havent heard from you in a long long time. aiyyo.. dont worry.. when your little one grows up as well, you will be forced to cook and for me buying food from outside is too expensive.. so I have to venture into it
