Sleep time convo:

VK: Amma can you pat me?
Me: Okay. Take your McQueen... Let’s go to sleep
After we are all tucked and settled to sleep,
VK: Amma we need to buy Mater!
Me: You asked for McQueen, and we got it for you... We can’t buy another toy kanna
VK: but Amma, we need Mater. Otherwise who will play with McQueen?
Me: you can play with McQueen rite.
VK: No Amma, Just like I am D’s best friend, Mater is McQueen’s best friend. Only they can play... we can't separate them!

(I was not sure if I should be impressed by his understanding of friendships or be worried that he is already devising strategy to buy more toys)
Me: Ok kanna... no more talking, time to sleep... Good night baby!
VK: Good night Amma!
(After 10 secs of silence)
VK: Amma, can I say good night to McQueen?
Me: ok but make it fast!
VK: Good night McQueen
Me: (in a husky voice) Good night VK !
(did not want any more conversations... and hence thought a reply would make him happy)
VK: but Amma, McQueen doesn’t reply like that...
He would say Vroom Vvrrrrooom vvvvvrrrrrrrroooooommmmmmm!

Just when I thought it can’t get any worse, another slap in the face conversation

Break fast time:

Me: VK, its getting very late… it time for breakfast
VK: I don’t want to eat anything
Me: No! You have to eat something... Coco pops or rice bubbles?
VK: I don’t want anything
Me: (in a raised tone) you can’t go to day care without eating
VK: No... I don’t want anything.
(We continue this for about 5 mins)
Me: ok I am going to put coco pops in a cup... You need it eat it right now!
VK: No Amma
Me: you can’t say no.
Even before I finish my sentence
VK: Amma, you can’t put cereals in cup... you have to put in a bowl!
