Letter to Team India

It’s not often in this life that you get a chance to achieve what you have missed out many times. But GOD has been kind to me and given me the opportunity to get what I missed out 6 times. Probably this is how my most beloved SACHIN would have felt after 2nd April 2011. At least, that is how I felt for my man SACHIN.
The day I have started seeing this man SACHIN play cricket for my country “India”, I have never had any second thoughts on who would be my most favourite cricketer. I am pretty sure this would remain the same way till I am alive. My fanaticism towards the man SACHIN has been so much over the years that I wanted to name my son SACHIN. My wife had to intervene and finally we agreed to have one of his 9 names (as per our tradition) as SACHIN. To see my man lift the world cup finally was a beautiful feeling. In the winning moments, I kept watching in every frame my man and see how he was feeling. Even more, I was brought down to tears when Virat Kohli said “We did it for SACHIN who has been carrying the burden of bringing the cup for India for 21 years”. That’s exactly how I felt. If I had a chance to achieve something for India, I would have wanted to do it for my man who has just kept performing for his country day in and day out from the moment he arrived into the cricketing arena. I could not withstand any more to see countrymen fail at World Cup after World Cup. I wanted to be the leader who would take the initiative to bring the Cup back home and make my man  proud. This is exactly what Captain MS Dhoni did. He rose to occasion and won it for India, won it for SACHIN. I bow to your attitude Mr. Dhoni. When we won, I wanted to carry  SACHIN on my shoulders and proudly say to the nation that we did it for him. That’s exactly what you did after winning.
I don’t remember how I felt when India won the Cricket World Cup in 1983 as I was only 4 years old. However once I understood the game of cricket, every World cup & in fact every match India has played, I wanted India to win. Today, I am so happy and satisfied to see India lift the Cricket World Cup and to see SACHIN lift & kiss it. As people say, I am Thankful to the Almighty to have born & to have watched, played and lived Cricket during the era SACHIN played cricket for India.

Thank you Team India. Through you, you have allowed me to live and achieve what I wanted to for my country and for my man SACHIN.

Jai Ho!
P.S: If you haven’t guessed it yet... this is a guest post by Hubby who has been walking two feet above ground for the last couple of days. I was planning to write a post about the world cup but thought maybe it would be better for him to write as he lives, breathes and eats cricket.
