A couple of weeks ago…Actually I will date this back to a couple of months ago, I got a comment on one of my posts from this person. Her name was new and as always excited about a comment from a new person, I peeped into her blog to see who she was. She had just started writing and as I was busy that day I just mentally noted down to come back later. Again a week later there was another comment from her and this time I was determined to know more about her and hence read her posts. One of her posts kind of gave a hint that she might from the same geographical location as me. I tried searching her blog to see if it said anything about her location and couldn’t find any... I couldn’t find her email address either and hence asked her the question as a comment on the post. Bang! In 2 seconds came the reply that we do live in the same city. I was so excited to know there was a fellow blogger in the same city!
After this both of us fell silent and were just commenting on each other’s blogs. I have a reason for this... I was too scared to take it up any further. I have the biggest fear of rejection and was worried that I would get upset if she didn’t respond back and hence thought would get comfortable on blogs to start with and take it slow.. (Should ask her for her side of the story!!!!)
I commented on one of her posts recently and then in like 5 minutes I have an email from her. It was followed up by several emails of general questions and sharing info. Emails were flying every minute. Eventually we found out that we were actually neighbours (not literally)... But she lives like 10 minutes away from my place!! What a coincidence!!! Again the excited me took over and we talked about meeting. Actually I think I should give her the credit… She asked me first if we could meet. After few telephonic conversations it was decided that we meet at a specific bus stop in the city. Yup.. bus stop!!! And we have reasons for it. It was a Friday and both of us wanted to rush back home to be with our family and hence didn’t want to stay for long. A quick 10 minute meeting didn’t make much sense for both of us as both of us were going to take the effort to come to the common place... We then decided that if both of us travelled together we might get sometime to catch up. I took the plunge and was more than happy to travel in the bus with her. (I was way too excited and was ready to do anything to meet a new friend!).After deciding when and where to meet and a few more phone and email conversations, I left work and travelled towards that bus –stop!!
I should digress here and put in some details! I keep reading about these blogger meets and always wished, I could be there… would curse my luck that I live in one remote corner of the world. Eventually I would just cheer myself up saying maybe next time. As much as I had hoped to find a blogger friend in the same city never thought would bump into one so soon!!
Now to the meeting...Although we had spoken a bit over the phone by then, my heart was thumping and I had butterflies in my stomach!! Thousand thoughts on my mind!! She had already left an impression on me. Her voice was sweet and soft on the phone and she sounded warm and honest. I was worried about what she thought of me .I am obessesive compulsive worrier !! (worrier ? or worryer? is there a word.. couldnt think of any other.)
At the said time, we both reach the bus stop and she actually identified me with the description I had given her (grey jacket, two bags and a huge umbrella!!). The minute I saw her, calm set in me!! Her face matched my description and imagination .We clicked immediately and yapped like we had known each other for long. At the end of the meeting, our other half(s) met each other as well just for a minute in the middle of the road.
End of story of my first blogger meet (if we may call so!!)
Oh I forgot to mention who she is... Didn’t I?
Incase you haven’t guessed it yet… She is the Mommy of 2 cute little ones !
