Letter to Myself

Inspired by this post on this blog, wanted to try writing to the teenager VJ.

Dear Teenager Me,

All that time spent on studying in class XII is just not going to help in any way. (How encouraging am I?)Your biggest aim in life of going to your dream college/university will never happen and you will be shattered. Never mind though… you will bounce back and never until that day did I know that you had so much resilience. But the scar is buried deep within you which you can never come to terms with.

Nobody knows how it happened but after entering college, you will become a chatter box that the whole family will be in shock when they see you talking so much. You will have truck load of best friends as suppose to the 2 or 3 you have now. You will think the world revolves around them. Eventually everyone will go in different directions and life will still go on and you will grow up.

You know what... Sometimes God plays games with us.
I know how much you respect your parents, will never go against them and think love marriage is a taboo… all will change!!! You will fall for your best friend, be in a long distance relationship for 4 years, and fight with family to get acceptance. However all’s well ends well and you will eventually get their approval and live happily ever after. I can see you nodding your head in disapproval and thinking in your mind “ No way.. This will never happen”...Believe me girl!! I am old and have seen everything.

After your sister’s wedding, you are thinking that America is your dream destination. You will work towards that destination and in the process will have heartache. Most of your friends would fly while you wave good-bye. You will prove again that you are tough and hit back. You will go to this country that no-one had imagined and actually you will settle down there. Believe me when I say …it’s a beautiful country and you will fall in love with it.

All of the above that I have said is an insight on how your life will shape up...However I need to add one more thing which is just about you as a person. Somewhere down the lane, you change totally from a timid, introvert teenager to a fun-loving, independent woman and it will be the change for the better.
