We watched Angel and Demons on Friday night.
This is the first time Hubby and I were going to the theatre without VK. Amma was babysitting him. I was initially excited that we would be spending time as a couple after a long time. However on Friday, I actually started feeling tensed and guilty about leaving VK at home. I was hoping he wouldn’t cry when we left. If he had cried, it would have spoilt my whole evening. He was a darling and even waved bye to us. He didn’t trouble Amma afterwards... he just played and dozed off… How good is that :-)
About the movie, I think I liked the book better. They had made some changes in the movie for obvious reason like time constraints but I wish they had made it convincing. I read the book about 6 months back and loved it. I forced Hubby to read it. He is someone who would read 3 pages in 3 months type. He read it fully and was as excited as I was. We kept checking for release dates and we booked it early and watched it in Gold Class. (Which we have wanted to for long long time… and was just waiting for a good movie)
For so much excitement, I felt the movie was not great... You just watch the movie, you might like it... But after reading the book... It was just plain OK.
On other stuff, we painted one wall in our living room. It already had a feature wall in Blue. Me being a sucker for orange colour wanted to change it to orange and finally got around to doing it last weekend. I totally love it now. All it needs now is some decorations on the wall. I love tanjore paintings and have set sight on one. It’s absolutely beautiful. Just have to wait till my mom goes back and does it for me. Yup... she does Tanjore paintings (just gets an artist to draw and she does the rest.)
What do I do???
Bring them safely from India and hang them in my living room.

Congrats on the first movie after kid..it is a mixed bag. There will be days when he cries and you will go through the movie heartbroken.
Just take them in stride..
On a seperate note...have always felt that very few books made into movies live up to the books.Such dissappointment!
wanted to watch the movie.. but have read the book too. isnt that what happens all the time? Wow Tanjore painting.. I love them too!! And I bet they would look great on an orange wall... hey btw finished the long pending tag :)
Guilt, we never let it go, do we? Read the book ages ago, need to do a recap before I watch the movie.
Feature painting..awesome, how did you manage with the little one? My husband did it when I was away with the two kids!
IMWML: it truly was a disappointment.. we already have those day when we leave to work and he hugs me and starts crying... yah trying to learn to take them in stride.
@Preethi: yah..not always like the book...
Glad you are back..pls pls dont go on such long breaks.. really miss your humour.
ah.. one more fan for tanjore paintings.. just love them..am eyeing a big one.. dont know when it will make it down here..
@Sole: Dont dont read the book again... just go watch the movie.. that way you might like it better.. for me the book was fresh in memory and hence couldnt digest the movie at all.
My mom was keeping him occupied.. but we did have our share of problems with him.. we just didnt rush in.. took our time and had a friend come for help too.. !!
same was the case with Da Vinci Code wasn't it? The movie was so slipshod and sometimes almost a drag!
have to agree with DC
but as books go- i liked angels and demons more than da vinci code
yeah!!- welcome to the ornage fan club
your mom does tanjore paintings!!!! does she sell as well??can i get one for myself ?
the guilt never goes does it?
@DC: yah.. but reviews say this is better than Da vinci code.
@Art: yah I actually loved angels and demons as a book.. it was really gripping and thrilling till the end. but the movie had heaps changes.
Do you like orange too !!yay !!
my mom does tanjore paintings.. she actually just caters to my sister and my needs .. have never sold before.. shall ask her if she wants to do it for you.
guilt for sure never goes.. even at the movies, half the mind was at home, hoping all is well.
And photos of the wall?
:) your husband's reading speed and response to Dan Brown sounds very familiar here.
I agree with inlove - books are much better!
Nitya: photos should be coming up soon.. its just that is a bare wall now.. want to do some decorations before taking pics
NM: is your hubby the same way too. its actually much better now.. slowly he is trying to get into the reading habit
Gosh, I *have* to see the Tanjore paintings on your wall, as soon as they are ready, of course! My first one was such a labor of love, am not sure i have it in me to undertake more anytime soon:)
On another note... Felt that A&D was a much better read than Da Vinci, as if Dan Brown finished A&D and decided, oh wait, I forgot to add this element and that twist, let me redo A&D, but since I can't get away with that... well, am rambling as usual :)
Have a good weekend!
