Down the Memory Lane !

I saw this tag on Art’s blog. (Actually in heaps more of blogs... it is spreading quite rapidly).
She had passed it to anyone who wanted to do it.
I haven’t gotten around to writing VK birth story... and eventually if I don’t do it all, atleast this tag would help our memory when we look back years later.

1. WAS YOUR PREGNANCY PLANNED? Yes.

2. WERE YOU MARRIED AT THE TIME? Definitely.

3. WHAT WERE YOUR REACTIONS? Felt numb... Didn’t really sink in for a long time!!

4. WAS ABORTION AN OPTION FOR YOU? Why should I... When I had planned for it.

5. HOW OLD WERE YOU? 27

6. HOW DID YOU FIND OUT YOU WERE PREGNANT? My instincts had already told me... just needed it confirmed with the home pregnancy test.

7. WHO DID YOU TELL FIRST? Hubby

8. DUE DATE? 16th October 2007

9. DID YOU HAVE MORNING SICKNESS? Yup for the first 12 weeks and just vanished two days after week 12.

10. WHAT DID YOU CRAVE? Nothing really … just didn’t like spicy masala stuff

11. WHO/WHAT IRRITATED YOU THE MOST? The fact that I couldn’t drink coffee for 9 months.

12. WHAT WAS YOUR FIRST CHILD'S SEX? Male

13. DID YOU WISH YOU HAD THE OPPOSITE SEX OF WHAT YOU WERE GETTING? We have always wanted a girl... But I knew this would be a boy as my father-in-law had just passed away. I also had a dream where my father-in-law came and told me that he hasn’t gone anywhere and will be with us always.

14. HOW MANY POUNDS DID YOU GAIN THROUGHOUT THE PREGNANCY? About 10kgs

15. DID YOU HAVE A BABY SHOWER? Yes. The traditional valakaapu and seemantham.

16. WAS IT A SURPRISE OR DID YOU KNOW? We planned for it.

17. DID YOU HAVE ANY COMPLICATIONS DURING YOUR PREGNANCY? Touch wood... No!
18. WHERE DID YOU GIVE BIRTH? Sydney

19 HOW MANY HOURS WERE YOU IN LABOR? About 10 hours

20. WHO DROVE YOU TO THE HOSPITAL? Hubby along with my Mom.
One point here: It was quite ironical that the song Oru dheivam thanda poovae (from Kannathil Muthamittal) was playing on our car when we drove to the hospital. I was quite moved hearing it, even though I was in pain.

21. WHO WATCHED YOU GIVE BIRTH? Mid-wife, Hubby and Amma

22. WAS IT NATURAL OR C-SECTION? Natural. However had my own dose of complications.

23. DID YOU TAKE MEDICINE TO EASE THE PAIN? Just laughing gas (which didn’t help much)

24. HOW MUCH DID YOUR CHILD WEIGH? 3.44Kgs

25. WHEN WAS YOUR CHILD ACTUALLY BORN? 16th October 2007 (Yup.. exactly on the due date)

26. WHAT DID YOU NAME HIM/HER? He came as brightness into our life and his name actually means the same in Sanskrit.

27. HOW OLD IS YOUR FIRST BORN? 3 days short of 17 months.

28. WHAT WAS YOUR REACTION WHEN THE DOCTOR ANNOUNCED THE SEX OF THE BABY? I knew it (nope we didn’t find out... it was more an instinctive thing) and hence was ready for it. At that point, I was more worried about knowing the Apgar score

29. WHAT WAS YOUR FIRST REACTION ON SEEING THE BABY? How cute!!!!!

30. DID YOU CRY? Nope... was really happy with a sense of accomplishment. I was actually on high spirits for a long time courtesy the hormones and the laughing gas.

Now I pass it on to Deeps, Nitya, Choxbox and Preethi.
