I have never done VK updates on the exact day. Either I don’t post it in time or I am too busy stuck with other things, (basically meaning I am lazy) that I don’t get around to doing the update. Following the tradition, I am few days late this month too.
The last few months haven’t been very kind to him. He has been battling bacterias and viruses which seem to love him so much and keep recurring. We are still working on them and hope by the next month, I don’t have to write about them.He also had his first physical injury. I don’t go into specifics because we still don’t where exactly he was injured. The good thing however is he has recovered and is almost back to his normal self.
Eating good food has reduced drastically. Eating junk has increased tremendously .He needs to taste everything that we eat... no matter, how spicy or how hot it is.
He has become a big time Mamma's pet. Hubby can’t touch me or hold my hands. VK thinks he is doing something to me and comes screaming and running and pushes Hubby away. Well... He truly is my knight in shining armor trying to protect me. (I know ... I know I should be the one protecting him but it’s sometimes ok to have reversal of roles...)
Can add few more words to VK dictionary
Tan (Fan)
Tar (star)
Car
Amma
Appa
Thaatha
Paa (paati)
Moo (Moon)
Pappel (apple)
Bamama (Banana)
Poo (flower)
Ba Ba (bye-bye)
Pa (with different tone - meaning Milk)
(Cant remember the rest now.. shall keep them updated as and when I remember)
This kid already knows his priorities He opens the cupboard where keep the snacks but can’t see or reach it. Hence drags one of us to it and points to the cupboard and taps his chest (meaning he wants something for himself). We ask him what he wants he just point up to the cupboard again. When we offer a biscuit and if it’s not his choice, he will shake his head for about 4-5 times to say, that’s not what he wants. We then try all options possible till he gets what he had on his mind. He knows to say yes or No in sign language. If it’s a yes, he nods his head, up and down and if it’s a no, shakes his left to right and he uses them correctly.
Father-Son bonding has finally kicked in and VK is starting to enjoy spending time with his Dad. (Good for me... I get to relax now)
He can identify few body parts and when we ask him where eyes are, he would point to our eyes and when we are glad he pointed it correctly, he would make sure our eyes are poked atleast once making us repent for our question in the first place.
He knows when we go to work and behaves and showers hugs and say bye with all smiles. It’s us who leave with a heavy heart leaving the little one behind.Similarly when we come back from work, its feels so good to see his beautiful cherubic smile.Though he is a Mamma's pet, when we come back from work, he just acknowledges me with a smile. Even when I pick him up, he pulls himself away and runs towards his Dad. He waits patiently till Hubby removes his shoes and asks him to be picked up and gets his shares of kisses for the day. If Hubby just acknowledges him and walks away, he goes behind him, all around the house till he is picked up and kissed.
He has started developing a liking for books and can sit with them for quite a sometime. Will go about point all the objects he knows in the book. When he see something he doesn’t know, just flips pages and go to the page where he knows the object and just keeps repeating it.
(Yup.. truly is a cheeky monkey !)
He has become a big time drama queen and screams his heart out when things don’t go his way. Throws big tantrums but when he realizes we don’t bother, just stops screaming or crying and shifts his attention to the next thing.
He loves the kitchen (maybe a chef???). He meddles with the pots, pan, spoons etc and most times half the stuff go missing only to be found under the bed or somewhere totally inconceivable. There are always plastic containers and boxes on our kitchen floor now. I try my best to clear them up only to see them strewn on the floor five minutes later. Child-locks don’t work anymore as he drags the doors with force that they just fling open.
I can also see a future mechanical engineer.(I already have so many dreams for him) He loves to work with screw-drivers or anything from the tool kit. He generally is quite observant and when he sees us doing something with screw-driver, he imitates the same thing after sometime.
When bored or if the house is in perfect silence, you can see that VK would most likely be busy with his toy tool set or has turned his cycle upside down and his trying to screw something on the wheel. He can do this for hours together.
When we try to distract him, he just smiles and gets back to his work.
At times like this I just remember the old Horlicks ad, where the kid would say
“Amma...Na rumba busyyyyy”
We are counting our days to hear the same or similar line from him.

WOW!that was quite an enjoyable post. You took me on a literal nostalgic trip.
As for being the mamma's pet...it so reminds me of my Namnam.she still is like that, you know.No sooner does my husband comes near me than she yells at the top of her voice to keep him away from me!Its as if I'm some kind of an untouchable and she is warning her papa to beware!
that was such a lovely post, and being here in the campus, I miss being with the kids, well as my mom loves having people around, These kids can be found at least one time in our home and they do everything that Vk does...
Lovely post! sis,, convey my love n regards to the lil man...
